Seward & Kissel’s Global Banking and Corporate Trust Group Completes Standout Year, Names Gregg Bateman Head of Practice

February 1, 2024

With the turn of the calendar to 2024, Seward & Kissel is proud to look back on another standout year for our Global Banking and Corporate Trust Group in service of our global banking, corporate trust, and agency clients. At the same time, we are energized for the future – and are pleased to announce that this year and beyond, our Global Banking and Corporate Trust Group will be led by longtime Seward & Kissel partner Gregg Bateman. Gregg has practiced at Seward & Kissel for 17 years, devoting much of his time to advising banks and financial institutions on various types of debt financing transactions. Gregg and the rest of the Global Banking and Corporate Trust team will continue to work hand in hand with our CLO and Structured Finance Group, headed by Greg Cioffi, and our Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy Group, headed by John Ashmead, to provide a suite of comprehensive services to our banking and corporate trust and agency clients.

Likewise, we are thrilled to announce that Sagar Patel has been promoted to partner in the practice. Sagar has vast experience representing clients in various capacities, including as trustee, agent and control party, in complex financing transactions, including multi-tier debt structures and collateralized loan obligations.

In addition to Gregg and Sagar, the highly skilled senior members of the team including counsel Daphne Coelho-Adam, who specializes in depositary receipts, secondary market trading and loan financings, and Kimberly Giampietro, who specializes in asset backed securitizations and aircraft financings, continue to provide top tier legal guidance to our trusted clients.

Select highlights of our work over the past year include:

  • Representing various banks and financial service providers in their capacities as administrative agent, facility agent and collateral agent in connection with secured and unsecured loan facilities across various industries totaling approximately $15 billion.
  • Representing institutions in their capacity as control party in connection with whole business securitizations totaling approximately $2 billion.
  • Representing several financial institutions in their capacities as collateral administrator, trustee, custodian, administrative agent and collateral agent in connection with collateralized loan obligations, multi-currency loan facilities and warehouse transactions, as well as redemptions and re-financings, totaling approximately $40 billion in issuance.
