JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Financial Systems Administrator (“Systems Administrator”) is a newly created position that will be responsible for technical administration of the firm’s financial systems and their data continuity, integrity, safeguards, and controls. The role will help enhance financial management system functionality and user experience through the firm’s upcoming transition from the current SAP based system to Elite 3E.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS: The role will report to Controller and interacts extensively with senior business stakeholders (CFO, CIO), system users across the firm, as well as external vendors and consultants. The role has one direct report, Financial Systems Administrator.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the following:

  • Serve as the primary representative of the Finance team to the IT team, external vendors, and consultants to enhance collaboration and ensure that sufficient technical resources are dedicated to support maintenance and growth of the financial systems.
  • Work in tandem with the IT team to manage application servers, databases, integration points, data interfaces, transmissions, reporting, back-end scripting and queries, performance/stability, and system security for the firm’s financial systems.
  • Work with the project team to provide financial system expertise and requirements for upcoming Elite 3E implementation and support overall project planning and execution of all the financial system related projects.
  • Help maintain connectivity of the core financial system (SAP to be converted to Elite 3E) with related applications including ADP Interface, Sage-Fixed Assets, Chrome River, IntApp  etc. (“related applications”).
  • Manage support tickets and related escalations with software vendors and consultants.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for system users in the firm’s Billing, A/P, G/L, Financial Reporting, Cash Application and Collection teams as it relates to financial system-related questions, issues, and reporting functionality.
  • Keep abreast of the financial systems products in the law firm industry. Research and recommend system upgrades or replacements to provide the most efficiency to the finance department operations.
  • Evaluate and audit security and user access including the establishment of user roles based on users’ specific business needs. And adjust as needed as requirements change.
  • Monitor system processes, performance, and data feeds to ensure accurate and timely uploads and reporting.
  • Maintain standard reports, as well as assist in the design and creation of custom or “ad-hoc” reporting.
  • Deliver training on financial systems and processes.
  • Ensure that sufficient testing of new functionality and upgrades is timely and adequately performed by the correct users.
  • Create and maintain system documentation.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis projects.
  • Supervise the work product and provide training and development to Financial Systems Administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a financial systems support or analyst role within a law firm is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of the professional services financial processes including time entry, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, month, and year-end closings.
  • Experience administering Elite 3E (preferred) and SAP financial systems (plus).
  • Proficiency with SQL, including Elite 3E SQL database schema and advanced query writing skills.
  • Track record of identifying inefficiencies and implementing related process improvements

Ability to explain concepts to non-technical users.
