The client is a female Mandinkan woman from The Gambia who underwent a severe form of female circumcision and was physically, sexually and emotionally abused by her husband — a member of The Gambian military intelligence. The client refused to return to The Gambia after coming to the US and learning she was pregnant with a little girl. She was granted asylum yesterday and can file for a green card in a year.
