SEC Announces 2015 Examination Priorities

January 13, 2015

Earlier today, the SEC announced its examination priorities for 2015. This year’s release highlights three thematic areas on which the SEC’s Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations (“OCIE”) intends to focus: protecting retail investors and investors saving for retirement, assessing market-wide risks, and employing data analytics to detect potential illegal activity. Other examination priorities include newly registered municipal advisors, proxy advisory service firms, never-before-examined investment companies, private equity funds (particularly in connection with fees and expenses) and transfer agents.
