PURPOSE

The Network Engineer manages the Firm’s network infrastructure and all Data Center technologies. He/she will optimize systems with redundancy and resilience by leveraging a DR site and/or cloud services.

The Network Engineer helps other areas of the IT team identify, prioritize, and resolve critical network related issues that impact business operations. In addition, the network engineer proactively seeks to communicate solutions to network or datacenter related issues and preferred emerging technologies, which can be used to improve the overall health of the company network.

The network engineer looks for opportunities to innovate how technology is leveraged in the environment while promoting best practices in Change Control and IT Security.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Evaluates new technologies and platforms to determine whether their benefits and value aligns with firm’s needs. Independently leads simultaneous IT projects with a focus on security, user experience, maintainability, scalability, and transformation.
• Ensures firm’s network, virtualization and storage infrastructure is maintained with latest firmware and software requirements, in on-premises datacenters and cloud infrastructure.
• Provides escalation support to troubleshoot and resolve business impacting issues.
• Proactively communicates the status, plan of action(s), and resolution(s) of issues.
• Monitors and reports the performance of network components against KPIs and takes preemptive measures to minimize interruptions.
• Identifies opportunities and recommends solutions for improving the overall network health by reviewing core infrastructure strengths and challenges.
• Designs, configures, and tests on-prem or cloud hosted software and supporting systems resources.
• Performs Systems and Network Infrastructure installation and maintenance independently or in collaboration with vendors.
• Determine network bandwidth needs and recommend measures to meet those requirements.
• Conduct network modeling and analysis to construct a reliable, high-performance integrated network.
• Configures routers, switches, and other network hardware.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in engineering, computer science, or related field
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in the following network enterprise technologies:
• Experience configuring LAN/WAN/Switches/Firewalls/VPN and network infrastructure, with strong focus on Cisco and Palo Alto hardware.
• Data Center Infrastructure design and implementation
• Enterprise Storage design, implementation, and management
• Experience with management of Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Purview, Intune, Exchange Online, and other Microsoft cloud technologies.
• Knowledge of Azure datacenter infrastructure management and components.
• Experience managing messaging infrastructure and all its components including Exchange Server, Exchange Online, mail security and gateways.
• Able to configure firewall access policies following security best practices.
• Experience coding using PowerShell, Python or other tools to setup automation and administration tasks are a plus, but not necessary.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting AD Directory Services, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS and Group Policies
• VMWare virtualized environments and SRM to support High Availability and Disaster Recovery

• Broad knowledge of network concepts, enterprise network storage, virtualization platforms and enterprise messaging
• Able to provide detailed documentation and diagrams.
