Investment Management Counsel Alex Alberstadt was quoted in an article titled “Fund governance pros surprised, concerned by SEC risk alert” by Fund Board Views.

Alex is quoted calling the fund governance section of the risk alert “an oddball collection of small items” that seemed more to do with dotting “i”s and crossing “t”s than any actual deficiencies that cost investors return. “I am shocked that [advisory agreement approvals] is on the list,” she told FBV, noting that “everyone knows” a memo or letter to fulfill the request element of 15(c) is necessary. “How that changes year over year can vary, [and] many complexes really don’t change their letter much because the adviser’s investment approach doesn’t change, and therefore, it’s not totally unusual that it would look the same.”
