Kurt B. Plankl is a partner in the Corporate Finance Group.  Kurt’s practice focuses on the representation of U.S. and international lenders and borrowers in connection with secured loans and other financing transactions.  Kurt has also worked on matters ranging from the formation of joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, asset finance transactions, to the sale and purchase of vessels.

Kurt is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the Maritime Law Association of the United States.

Prior to joining Seward & Kissel, Kurt worked in the maritime industry, holding several leadership positions at International Registries, Inc., which administers the maritime and corporate programs for the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

Kurt received a B.S. and M.S., with honors, from SUNY Maritime College.  He received a Third Mate’s License, Unlimited Tonnage Oceans (non-renewed) from the U.S. Coast Guard, and sailed for Weeks Marine.  Kurt received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law, where he is a member of the Order of the Coif.
