In May 2015, Navig8 Crude Tankers Inc. (Norway OTC: BLUE), a Marshall Islands–organized crude oil tanker owner/operator, merged with New York-headquartered General Maritime Corporation to create Gener8 Maritime, a leading US-based provider of international seaborne oil transportation services. Gener8 Maritime has a combined fully delivered fleet of 46 vessels, comprised of 21 VLCC newbuildings and 25 vessels in operation. Navig8 Crude shareholders received 0.8947 shares of Gener8 Maritime for each share of Navig8 Crude common stock and post-merger owned 47.45% of Gener8 Maritime. In June 2015, Gener8 Maritime completed an initial public offering of its common stock at $14 per share, listing its shares on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker symbol “GNRT”. A Seward & Kissel team led by partners James Abbott, Gary Wolfe, Robert Lustrin and James Cofer, and including associates Danielle Lemberg, Evan Preponis, Andrei Sirabionian and Steven Bentsianov, represented Navig8 Crude Tankers in this transaction.
